OPIS:
Chartum, 2005 r. Nasilają się zamieszki pomiędzy Sudańczykami arabskiego pochodzenia a mieszkańcami północnego Sudanu. Na tym tle rozgrywa się historia Julii, czarnej katoliczki, której synek zostaje potrącony autem przez muzułmankę Monę, a mąż zostaje zabity przez męża kobiety. Aby zagłuszyć wyrzuty sumienia i starając się zadośćuczynić popełnionej krzywdzie, Mona zatrudnia Julię jako pokojówkę, chłopcu opłaca szkołę i oboje przyjmuje do swego domu. Z czasem kobiety zaprzyjaźniają się, a każda stara się zapomnieć o bolesnej przeszłości. Wszystko wraca jednak, gdy synek Julii prosi przyjaciela matki o pomoc w dowiedzeniu się, co stało się z jego ojcem.
BIOGRAM REŻYSERA:
Mohamed Kordofani – sudański filmowiec i reżyser krótkich metraży “Nyerkuk” (2016) i “The Kejer’s Prison” (2019). Stworzył również pierwszy prorewolucyjny dokument emitowany w sudańskiej telewizji pt. “A Tour in Love Republic” oraz film promujący potencjał inwestycyjny Sudanu pt. “This is Sudan”. Film “Żegnaj, Julio” to jego debiut pełnometrażowy.

DESCRIPTION:
Khartoum, 2005. Riots between Sudanese of Arab descent and the people of northern Sudan are escalating. Against this backdrop plays out the story of Julia, a black Catholic woman whose son is run over by a Muslim woman, Mona, and, due to a fateful turn of events, whose husband is killed by the woman’s husband. To drown out remorse and in an effort to make amends for the injustice committed, Mona hires Julia as a maid, pays for the boy’s schooling and takes them both into her home. Over time, the women become friends and each tries to forget the painful past. However, everything comes back to haunt them when Julia’s son asks his mother’s friend to help him find out what happened to his father.
DIRECTOR’S BIO:
Mohamed Kordofani is a Sudanese filmmaker and director of the short films ‘Nyerkuk’ (2016) and ‘The Kejer’s Prison’ (2019). He also created the first pro-revolutionary documentary to be aired on Sudanese television, titled. ‘A Tour in Love Republic’ and a film promoting Sudan’s investment potential entitled ‘This is Sudan’. The film ‘Goodbye, Julia’ is his feature-length debut.
