W miejscowość Kolofata na dalekiej północy Kamerunu, w otoczeniu gór, tuż przy granicy z Nigerią, obserwujemy mieszkańców i uchodźców, którzy doświadczyli terroru ze strony organizacji ekstremistycznej Boko Haram. Wielu z nich w obawie o życie opuściło miejscowość. Tylko stała obecność i ścisły patrol wojska pozwala zachować tu względne bezpieczeństwo. Dokument Cyrielle Raingou przybliża opowieści: dzieci, których rodzice zostali zabici przez terrorystów, kobiet które straciły mężów, oraz młodych chłopców, którzy uciekli z obozu Boko Haram i nie są w stanie poradzić sobie ze złem, którego doświadczyli. Mimo ciągłego zagrożenia, mieszkający tu ludzie starają się wieść normalne życie i układać plany na przyszłość.
BIOGRAM REŻYSERKI:
Cyrielle Raingou – kameruńska filmowczyni, stypendystka programu Mandela Washington, w ramach którego studiowała przywództwo obywatelskie na Uniwersytecie Drexel w Filadelfii. Ukończyła prawo i film dokumentalny w ramach europejskiego program DocNomard Joint Master. W 2014 r. założyła firmę produkcyjną “RaingouFilms”. Twórczyni krótkich metraży: “Challenge” (2017), “The neighbors” (2018), “Requiem prologue” (2019), “The lamb” (2020), “Parallel” (2021) i “Mother just a smile” (2022).

DESCRIPTION:
In the village of Kolofata in the far north of Cameroon, surrounded by mountains just across the border from Nigeria, we see residents and refugees who have experienced terror from the extremist organisation Boko Haram. Many of them have left the village in fear of their lives. Only the constant presence and strict patrolling of the army allows for relative safety. Cyrielle Raingou’s documentary takes a closer look at the stories: of children whose parents have been killed by terrorists, of women who have lost their husbands, and of young boys who have fled the Boko Haram camp and are unable to cope with the evil they have experienced. Despite the constant threat, the people living here are trying to lead normal lives and make plans for the future.
DIRECTOR’S BIO:
Cyrielle Raingou is a Cameroonian filmmaker and a recipient of the Mandela Washington Programme, under which she studied civic leadership at Drexel University in Philadelphia. She graduated in law and documentary filmmaking through the European DocNomard Joint Master programme. In 2014, she founded the production company ‘RaingouFilms’. Creator of short films: “Challenge” (2017), “The neighbors” (2018), “Requiem Prologue” (2019), “The lamb” (2020), “Parallel” (2021) and “Mother just a smile” (2022).
