Raj Patel – aktywista i dziennikarz piszący m.in. dla New York Timesa. Na temat jedzenia i głodu zeznawał przed rządami amerykańskimi i europejskimi. Autor przetłumaczonej na kilkanaście jezyków książki na temat systemu żywnościowego “Stuffed and Starved”. Pracował dla Banku Światowego i WTO. Wykładał m.in. na Oxfordzie, Uniwersytecie Berkeley i The London School of Economics.
Zak Piper – twórca dokumentów i producent. Najbardziej znany z filmu “Life Itself” (2014) o legandarnym krytyku filmowym Rogerze Ebercie, który miał swoją premierę na Sundance FF. Współprodukował również film “The Interrupters” (2011) uznany przez The New Yorker, Chicago Tribune, Entertainment Weekely i LA Times za jeden z najlepszych filmów roku.

Anita Chitaya is a farmer, community leader and educator in Malawi, working to promote organic farming, climate change education, and gender equality. Together with Esther Lupafya, who is also fighting for a just and better future for her family and community, they travel to the USA to talk to farmers, politicians and representatives of black communities. Do Americans recognise the climate crisis and are they aware of the effects it is having in African countries? And do the problems of the people of Malawi even interest them? These are just some of the questions that the protagonists of the documentarians Raj Patel and Zak Piper will be trying to answer.
DIRECTOR’S BIO:
Raj Patel – activist and journalist writing for the New York Times, among others. He has testified on food and hunger before American and European governments. Author of ‘Stuffed and Starved’, a book on the food system translated into a dozen languages. He has worked for the World Bank and the WTO. He has lectured at Oxford, Berkeley University and The London School of Economics, among others.
Zak Piper – documentary filmmaker and producer. Best known for his film ‘Life Itself’ (2014) about the legendary film critic Roger Ebert, which premiered at Sundance FF. He also co-produced ‘The Interrupters’ (2011), named one of the best films of the year by The New Yorker, Chicago Tribune, Entertainment Weekly and LA Times.
