Film Kaouther Ben Hani to prawdziwa historia matki i jej czterech córek, mieszkanek Tunezji. Brak wolności i praw, pogłębiający się radykalizm państwa oraz podejścia do kobiet i ich ciała, a także doświadczana przez całe życie przemoc doprowadziły młode kobiety do tragicznych wydarzeń. Dwie najstarsze córki dołączyły bowiem do Państwa Islamskiego (Daesh) w Libii, dokonując wraz z grupą dżihadystów zamachów terrorystycznych w Tunezji w 2015 r.
Ben Hania, wykorzystując w swoim filmie takie zabiegi jak zagranie zaginionych córek przez aktorki, zastąpienie matki w bolesnych scenach przez aktorkę czy nagranie wszystkich rozmów, jakie toczyły się pomiędzy autentycznymi postaciami i odtwórczyniami ról, w niezwykły sposób wzmocniła prawdziwość i dramatyczność całej opowieści.

DESCRIPTION:
Kaouther Ben Hani’s film is the true story of a mother and her four daughters, residents of Tunisia. The lack of freedoms and rights, the deepening radicalisation of the state and attitudes towards women and their bodies, and the violence experienced throughout their lives led the young women to tragic events. Indeed, the two eldest daughters joined the Islamic State (Daesh) in Libya, carrying out terrorist attacks in Tunisia with the jihadist group in 2015.
Ben Hania’s used actresses to play the missing daughters, as well as replaced the mother in painful scenes with an actress. Recordings of all the conversations that took place between the authentic characters and the role-players enhanced the veracity and drama of the entire story in an extraordinary way.

Kaouther Ben Hania – director originally from Sidi Bouzid, Tunisia. She is the creator of ‘Imams Go to School’ (2010), ‘The Blade of Tunis’ (2013), ‘Zaineb Hates the Snow’ (2016), ‘Beauty and the Dog’ (2017) and ‘The Man Who Sold His Skin’ (2020), which was screened at AfryKamera 2021.
