Through the film, we learn about the history of the Brigade Sarbati Orchestra, penetrate deep into the world of the orchestra, meet with its artists and observe how they have shaped their musical craft over the years. We get a glimpse into their daily life, their work in the studio, at rehearsals and during concerts. And finallt we delve into the titanic work they put into creating new compositions, following the principle: it doesn’t matter how much the drummer sweats, all that matters is whether he feels the rhythm well. For them, music is a unifying force, generated by creativity and raw energy.

David Nadeau-Bernatchez – urodzony w Quebecu filmowiec, scenarzysta i producent, który od 2004 r. bada kongijską scenę muzyczną. Niezależnie od tego, czy skupia się na muzyce, sporcie czy historii, projekty Bernatcheza nieustannie eksplorują kwestie społeczne i struktury narracyjne.
Sammy Baloji – artysta wizualny i fotograf urodzony w Lubumbashi (Demokratyczna Republika Konga), przeciwstawiający w fotografii różne rzeczywistości, tj. przeszłość z teraźniejszością. Przewodnimi tematami prac Baloji’ego jest dziedzictwo przemysłowe i kulturowe jego rodzinnego regionu Katanga. Szczególnie fascynują go pojęcia pamięci i pozostałości po kolonizacji. Eksploruje architekturę i ludzkie ciało, patrząc na obie kwestie pod kątem śladów historii społecznej, miejsc pamięci i świadków działań władzy. Wystawiał swoje prace na Biennale w Wenecji (2015), Documenta 14 (2017), Centrum Pompidou i Grand Palais w Paryżu (2020).
Kiripi Katembo-Siku – kongijski fotograf i filmowiec mocno związany z Kinszasą, gdzie mieszkał aż do swojej śmierci w 2015 r. Był fotografem o bardzo przenikliwym spojrzeniu artystycznym, a „Kongo Kitoko” to jego ostatnia wystawa zorganizowana przez Fondation Cartier w Paryżu, w której wziął udział za życia.
David Nadeau-Bernatchez – a Quebec-born filmmaker, writer and producer who has been exploring the Congolese music scene since 2004. Whether focusing on music, sport or history, Bernatchez’s projects continually explore social issues and narrative structures.
Sammy Baloji – visual artist and photographer born in Lubumbashi (Democratic Republic of the Congo), juxtaposing different realities in photography, i.e. the past with the present. The guiding themes of Baloji’s work are the industrial and cultural heritage of his native Katanga region. He is particularly fascinated by notions of memory and remnants of colonisation. He explores architecture and the human body, looking at both in terms of traces of social history, sites of memory and witnesses to the actions of power. He has exhibited his work at the Venice Biennale (2015), Documenta 14 (2017), the Centre Pompidou and the Grand Palais in Paris (2020).
Kiripi Katembo-Siku – Congolese photographer and filmmaker with strong ties to Kinshasa, where he lived until his death in 2015. He was a photographer with a very keen artistic eye, and 'Congo Kitoko’ was his last exhibition organised by the Fondation Cartier in Paris, which he took part in during his lifetime.
