To nie pogrzeb, tylko zmartwychwstanie / This Is Not A Burial, It’s A Resurraction

Osiemdziesięcioletnia wdowa mieszkająca w malutkiej wiosce pośród gór w Lesotho pochowała już wszystkich swych bliskich i jedynym jej pragnieniem jest spocząć obok nich. Wszystko się zmienia, gdy w Nasaretha zaczyna się budowa tamy, która zaleje okoliczne ziemie, groby przodków, ale i spowoduje wysiedlenie mieszkańców. Mantoa wraz z całą społecznością postanawia walczyć o zachowanie ziemi, do której przynależeli od pokoleń. Ten głęboko przejmujący film ukazuje nie tylko nieuchronny proces odchodzenia człowieka, ale także nieuczciwe zawłaszczanie ziemi jej rodowitym mieszkańcom oraz niszczenie “starego” świata przez pozorny postęp i rozwój. Nie sposób nie dostrzec w filmie zjawiskowych kadrów, które nie tylko zostały dopracowane w każdym szczególe, ale każdy z nich mógłby stanowić  osobny obraz.

An eighty-year-old widow living in a tiny village in the mountains of Lesotho has already buried all her loved ones and her only wish is to be laid to rest beside them. Everything changes when the construction of a dam begins in Nasaretha, which will flood the surrounding land, the graves of her ancestors, but also cause the displacement of local inhabitants. Mantoa and the entire community decide to fight to preserve the land to which they have belonged for generations. This deeply moving film shows not only the inevitable process of humanity’s passing away, but also the unfair appropriation of land from its native inhabitants and the destruction of the „old” world by apparent progress and development. It is impossible not to notice the phenomenal frames in the film, which are not only developed in every detail, but each of them could be a separate painting.
