Tunisia, 2011. Meriem and Fares are a modern, happy couple who are holidaying with their 11-year-old son Aziz in their home country. While driving in their car, their son is shot by Islamist rebels and is taken to hospital in a tragic condition. As the plot develops, it turns out that Aziz has to undergo a liver transplant, Fares is not his biological father, and Tunisian law is extremely restrictive in the face of the drama of parents who find themselves in situations like these. Mehdi M. Barsaoui has created a film that can be compared to the works of Asghar Farhadi, becoming a new and extremely important voice in the world of Arab cinema.

Mehdi M. Barsaoui – tunezyjski reżyser, absolwent Instytutu Sztuk Multimedialnych w Tunisie i reżyserii na DAMS w Bolonii. Autor filmów krótkometrażowych “Sideways” (2010), “Bobby” (2013) i “We’re Just Fine Like This” (2016). “Syn” to jego debiut pełnometrażowy.
Mehdi M. Barsaoui – a Tunisian director, graduate of the Institute of Multimedia Arts in Tunis and of DAMS in Bologna. He is the author of the short films 'Sideways’ (2010), „Bobby” (2013) and „We’re Just Fine Like This” (2016). „Son” is his feature-length debut.
