Akuol de Mabior, córka dr Johna Garanga de Mabiora (1945-2005), lidera Ludowej Armii Wyzwolenia Sudanu, wiceprezydenta Sudanu i pierwszego prezydenta Sudanu Południowego oraz Rebekki Nyandeng de Mabior, polityczki, bojowniczki o pokój i równe prawa dla kobiet stworzyła dokument pokazujący trudną historię Sudanu poprzez historię własnej rodziny. Szczególną uwagę poświęciła matce, nazywanej przez rodaków Matką Narodu, którą obserwujemy w różnych momentach jej pracy na rzecz prawdziwie wolnego Sudanu, ale także podczas zwyczajnych, codziennych czynności. Film znakomicie ukazuje wielką siłę kobiet, a także te wartości, które w życiu są naprawdę ważne.
Akuol de Mabior, daughter of Dr John Garang de Mabior (1945-2005), leader of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army, Vice President of Sudan and first President of South Sudan, and Rebecca Nyandeng de Mabior, politician, fighter for peace and equal rights for women, has created a documentary showing the difficult history of Sudan through the story of her own family. She paid special attention to her mother, called Mother of the Nation by her compatriots, whom we observe at various moments of her work for a truly free Sudan, but also during ordinary, everyday activities. The film poignantly shows the great strength of women, and those values that are truly important in life.

Akuol de Mabior – filmowczyni urodzona w 1989 r. na Kubie, obecnie mieszka w Nairobi. Autorka filmów krótkometrażowych (“Tomato Soup”, “Ihlazo”, Fall Into the Sky”, “On the White Nile”) i dokumentu pełnometrażowego “Nie ma prostej drogi do domu”, którego produkcją zajął się Sam Soko, reżyser filmu “Softie” pokazywanego na AfryKamerze w 2020 r.
Akuol de Mabior – filmmaker born in 1989 in Cuba, currently living in Nairobi. She is the author of short films (’Tomato Soup’, 'Ihlazo’, Fall Into the Sky’, 'On the White Nile’) and a feature-length documentary, 'No Straight Path Home’, which was produced by Sam Soko, director of the film 'Softie’ which screened at the 2020 AfryKamera.
