Czarne Mamby / Black Mambas

W 2013 r. podczas szczytu polowań na rogi nosorożców powstały Czarne Mamby, kobiece jednostki antykłusownicze, rekrutowane z okolicznych społeczności, pracujące na terenie Parku Narodowego Kruger w RPA. W dokumencie Leny Karbe poznajemy kilka członkiń tej formacji, które nierzadko narażają swoje życie w obronie zwierząt i dzi     kiej przyrody     . Dla jednych to zajęcie z wyboru, które daje im sprawczość i niezależność, dla innych ogromna odpowiedzialność i jedyna szansa na otrzymanie wynagrodzenia, z którego utrzymują całe rodziny. Oprócz bezsprzecznej wartości ochrony dzikiej fauny, reżyserka pokazuje też jeszcze jeden bardzo ważny wątek – wciąż obecne wykorzystywanie czarnej społeczności przez białych.

In 2013, during the peak of rhino horn poaching, the Black Mambas, a women’s anti-poaching unit recruited from the surrounding communities and working in South Africa’s Kruger National Park, was formed. In Lena Karbe’s documentary, we meet several members of this formation, who often risk their lives to defend animals and wildlife. For some, it is an activity of choice that gives them agency and independence; for others, it is a huge responsibility and their only chance to earn a living wage from which they support their entire families. In addition to the indisputable value of protecting wild fauna, the director also shows another very important theme – the ever-present exploitation of the black community by whites.
