„HLULEKA”
Jamila Janna oprowadza nas po najmniejszym chronionym rezerwacie morskim w RPA. Pokazuje jego piękno i bioróżnorodność, historię, ale i problemy ludzi tutaj mieszkających, których życie od zawsze było związane z oceanem. Akcentuje zarówno potrzebę chronienia tego dzikiego środkowiska, jak i włączenia mieszkańców tych terenów w proces podejmowania decyzji.
JAMILA JANNA – biolożka morska, aktywistka klimatyczna, poetka i współzałożycielka “WILD Elements (W.E)”. Pracowała dla takich organizacji jak: “WILDOCEANS” czy “KZN Sharks Boards”. “Hluleka” to jej debiut filmowy, powstał w ramach grantu N.E.W Pitch.

„OCEAN”
Dokument pokazuje niezwykłość oceanu rozciągającego się pomiędzy wschodnim a zachodnim wybrzeżem RPA oraz jego związek z człowiekiem. Zapewnia on byt i zatrudnienie tysiącom rodzin żyjących na tym terenie. Jednak zmniejszająca się liczba ryb, ocieplenie wody, duża zawartość w niej rtęci czy przeławianie zaczynają stanowić duży problem. Dla dwójki rybaków, którzy od pokoleń byli związani z oceanem, inne życie wydaje się niewyobrażalne.
PJ KOTZE – reżyser z RPA, którego przygoda z filmem rozpoczęła się po tym, jak spędził dwa lata pracując jako przewodnik żeglarski i nurkowy. Ukończył kurs filmowy w Open Window Institute. Szczególnie dobrze czuje się pod wodą, filmując dziką przyrodę, lub w ekstremalnych warunkach.

„PHEFUMLA – ODDYCHAJ”
W krótkim metrażu poświęconym oceanowi podążamy za naukowcem z RPA, Loyiso Dunga, który postanawia przezwyciężyć strach i spełnić marzenie o nurkowaniu w głębokim oceanie. Podczas swoich prób dokonuje obserwacji na temat tego, czego ludzie mogą się nauczyć z całego ekosystemu, który tworzy ocean. Dostrzega także ogromne zagrożenie dla bioróżnorodności oceanicznej.

„PRZYJACIEL ŻÓŁWI”
Didi to trzydziestoletni chłopak mieszkający w niewielkiej wiosce São Pedro na wyspie Sao Vincente, który poprzez dbanie i dokarmianie żółwi nie tylko stworzył z nimi rodzaj więzi, ale także znalazł sposób na życie. “Przyjaciel żółwi” pokazuje turystom niezwykłe życie tych małych stworzeń, dzięki którym może utrzymać siebie i swoją rodzinę.

„HLULEKA”
Jamila Janna guides us through the smallest protected marine reserve in South Africa. She shows its beauty and biodiversity, its history, but also the problems of the people who live here and whose livelihood has always been connected to the ocean. She emphasizes both the need to protect this wild environment and to involve the inhabitants of these areas in the decision-making process.
JAMILA JANNA – marine biologist, climate activist, poet and co-founder of „WILD Elements (W.E)”. She has worked for organizations such as: „WILDOCEANS” and „KZN Sharks Boards”. „Hluleka” is her debut film and was created under an N.E.W Pitch grant.

„OCEAN”
The documentary shows the uniqueness of the ocean stretching between South Africa’s east and west coasts and its relationship with man. It provides livelihood and employment for thousands of families living in the area. But dwindling numbers of fish, warming water, high mercury content in the water and overfishing are starting to become a big problem. For two fishermen who have been tied to the ocean for generations, a different life seems unimaginable.
PJ KOTZE is a South African director whose adventure with film began after he spent two years working as a sailing and diving guide. He completed a filmmaking course at the Open Window Institute. He is particularly comfortable underwater, filming wildlife, or in extreme conditions.

In a short film about the ocean, we follow a South African scientist, Loyiso Dunga, who decides to overcome his fear and fulfill his dream of diving in the deep ocean. During his attempts, he makes observations about what humans can learn from the entire ecosystem that makes up the ocean. He also recognizes the huge threat to ocean biodiversity.

„TURTLE FRIEND”
Didi is a thirty-year-old boy living in the small village of São Pedro on the island of São Vincente who, by caring for and feeding turtles, has not only formed a kind of bond with them, but has also turned it into a way of life. „Turtle Friends” presents the extraordinary life of these little creatures, thanks to which Didi can support himself and his family.
ABEL MONTEIRO is a filmmaker and director living in Mindelo (Cape Verde). He loves photography, design, music and DIY.
