Upon her return, she learns of the sudden death of her boyfriend, Serge. During her mourning period, Anita finds comfort in spending time with Shema, Serge’s best friend. Their relationship becomes complicated as they begin to grapple with questions of loyalty and desire. Anita tries to distance herself from Shema and devote herself entirely to her music.
The film combines elements of drama and musical melodrama, using intense colours, dance and music to depict the protagonist’s emotional journey. The narrative style is non-linear, with scenes reminiscent of music videos.
Philbert Aimé Mbabazi Sharangabo (born in 1990 in Kigali, Rwanda) is a director, screenwriter, and producer, one of the leading representatives of contemporary Rwandan cinema. He graduated from the Haute École d’Art et de Design (HEAD) in Geneva in 2017, making the short films The Liberators and Versus during his studies. After graduation, he founded the production company Imitana Productions in Kigali, supporting the development of young cinema in the country.
