AfroTuba was established in 2014 by Balafon Brothers duo. It is the fruit of their long-lasting friendship and thriving relationships with many other musicians. Their work is a mixture of various genres. AfroTuba uses traditional cantos of African singers, Slavic, Balkan, Latin American folk and contemporary music. They take listeners to a musical journey around the world, sharing the idea of peace, love and solidarity.
Buba Badjie Kuyateh
Composer and master of kora. He was born in 1982 in Gambia in a respected family of griots (African musicians). Soon he became one of the most popular musicians in the country, performing with his group called Nyodemaa Band. He is kora instructor and organizer of the musical journeys to Gambia.
He came to Poland in 2012. He is not only fascinated by traditional African music, but he also stays open for other sounds like contemporary music, jazz or funk. That flexibility effected in Buba Kuyateh Trio project, that made him known to wider audience. He collaborated with various artists such as Maria Pomianowska, Alina Mleczko, Urna Chahar Tugchi, Stanisław Soyka and Kinior. He participates in Ruhaniyat Music Festival in India where he performs solo or with respected Indian artists.
